NordLing mobility grants

NordLing awards mobility grants to doctoral students in the participating NordLing graduate schools. There are currently six grants available for application, each of amount 500 euros maximum. Grants will be awarded on a "first come, first served" basis to trips made before September 30, 2008.

NordLing mobility grants can be used to attend other than NordLing organized events (e.g. conferences, seminars) within the Nordic and Baltic region. Grants can also be used for a research visit to another NordLing-affiliated graduate school or institution.

Active participation, i.e. a paper or poster presentation, is required for trips to conferences.

Applications for the grants have to include a description of the event, an explanation of the motivation for the suggested trip, a detailed budget, and the supervisor's recommendation sent by email (supervisors are asked to send the recommendation directly to the coordinator). If the grant is applied for research work to be done in another NordLing-affiliated institution, recommendation by email is requested also from the receiving institution.

Please send your applications to coordinator Tiina Keisanen (tiina.keisanen(at)helsinki.fi). From the beginning of January 2008, send your applications to coordinator Ulla Vanhatalo (ulla.vanhatalo(at)helsinki.fi).

The coordinator will confirm the application information with the course organizer or receiving institution, and inform the student about his/her acceptance.

Successful applicants will receive the grant after the event by getting reimbursed for travel and accommodation costs up to the amount of 500 euros. All original receipts (including tickets, boarding passes etc.) must be submitted by using a travelling expenses form that will be sent to successful applicants. Awardees are also requested to write a short report of the trip afterwards.

Should you have any further questions about the grants, please contact the coordinator for further information (Tiina Keisanen during December, and Ulla Vanhatalo from the beginning of January 2008 and onwards). You can also check NordLing's website at www.nordling.cc
